A Poem For Halloween

In a house of endless night,
In which the bats and ghouls delight,
In a chair of faded white,
I'll read my book by candlelight.

And as the ghosts and demons fight,
A thousand bats take noisy flight,
And though they screech with all their might,
I'll read my book by candlelight.

A fire-maned horse storms into sight,
Destroying much in it's thundering flight,
While to the room it lays much blight,
I'll read my book my candlelight.

Locked in combat are a ghoul and a sprite,
The ghoul kills the other in a display of might,
And despite this grim and grisly sight,
I'll read my book my candlelight.

The ghosts wail loud as it strikes midnight,
One hundred wolves howl into the night,
Heedless of my fearful plight,
I'll read my book by candlelight.

Storming, icy, is the night,
I should be feeling dreadful fright,
But my chair is soft and my candle bright,
So,
I'll read my book by candlelight,
I'll read my book by candlelight,
I'll read my book by candlelight,
(Through the dark and lonely night...)
I'll read my book by candlelight,
I'll read my book by candlelight....
